What’s Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition marked by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and often sleep and mood disturbances. According to the NIH, it affects an estimated 4 million U.S. adults and is diagnosed more often in women. Because there’s no single definitive test for it, the diagnosis is typically made when pain is found at multiple specific pressure points throughout the body and no other cause has been identified.
That last part is important. For many people, a fibromyalgia diagnosis comes after years of appointments, normal-looking labs, and being told that long-term pain management β usually medication β is the best path forward.
That’s a hard place to land, especially when you know something is wrong.
Fibromyalgia is systemic β not pain in one joint, but everywhere. When you’re hurting that consistently, it affects everything else: energy, mood, sleep, how you function day to day. That’s why we look at how everything connects β physical, nutritional, and emotional β rather than treating pain as its own isolated problem.
Below, we’ll walk through what may be contributing to your symptoms, how we approach care, and what to expect.
What May Be Causing Your Symptoms
Here’s what we typically find:
Chronic Inflammation
In the patients we’ve worked with, inflammatory markers are often significantly elevated. Pain is inflammation β and when it becomes systemic, it shows up everywhere. Comprehensive lab testing can identify how much inflammation is present and give a real starting point for treatment.
Previous Trauma
The body stores stress and trauma physically, not just emotionally. There’s often a reason symptoms intensified during or after a particularly difficult period in someone’s life. Addressing that connection is sometimes part of getting better.
A Possible Autoimmune Component
There may be overlap between fibromyalgia and autoimmune conditions β in part because people with one autoimmune issue often develop others. This is still being studied, but we look for those patterns as part of our intake process.
Nervous System Dysregulation
When joints are locked up and the body is stuck in a chronic stress response, healing is harder. Resetting that nervous system is often central to the work.
Most patients have more than one of these contributing β which is why testing and a thorough intake matter before recommending any treatment.
How We Approach Fibromyalgia
Once we understand what’s driving your symptoms, here are the treatments that may help:
Chiropractic Care
Adjustments help get joints moving again and helps reset the nervous system. We use gentle techniques specifically because fibromyalgia patients can be sensitive to pressure. Explore Chiropractic Care
Functional Medicine
Comprehensive lab panels to check inflammatory markers and other potential drivers, followed by targeted supplementation to start bringing things down. Explore Functional Medicine
Acupuncture
We use a specific fibromyalgia protocol to help reduce pain and calm an overstimulated system. Explore Acupuncture
Cold Laser Therapy
FDA-approved for pain relief. Often added alongside a chiropractic or acupuncture appointment. Explore Cold Laser Therapy
Not sure where to start? We’ll figure that out together at your first appointment.
What to Expect
Your First Appointment
We’ll talk through your full health history β when the pain started, what you’ve already tried, and what previous labs have shown. This matters, because the picture looks different for every person.
Gentle By Design
We use gentle chiropractic techniques and soft tissue work specifically for patients with fibromyalgia. We understand that overstimulation is a real concern β so you’re always in control of how much pressure is involved.
Honest About Timelines
If your symptoms have been building for years, they won’t resolve quickly. Chronic, systemic pain takes time to address. What most patients notice is gradual improvement β fewer bad days, better energy, less overall pain. How fast that happens depends in large part on following through with the protocol.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is fibromyalgia actually treatable, or do I have to live with it?
In our experience, you don’t have to just accept it β but it does require real work. It’s healing from the inside out. That might mean chiropractic, lab testing, acupuncture, addressing mental and emotional health, or some combination. It’s rarely one thing, and it rarely has a fast answer.
Will treatment make my pain worse?
We use gentle techniques with fibromyalgia patients because we know sensitivity is a real issue. Some discomfort is possible, but patients don’t generally describe treatment as painful.
I’ve already had blood work done. Why would more labs help?
Standard panels often miss what matters here. We run comprehensive testing that includes inflammatory markers and other indicators not covered in a routine panel β giving a clearer picture of what’s actually going on.
Do I need to be in a flare to come in? No. Whenever you’re ready is the right time.
Do you take insurance?
We are an out-of-network provider. HSA and FSA funds are accepted. Upon request, we can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement.
Ready to find out what’s actually driving your pain?
We don’t guess. We listen, test, and work through it with you.
