Why Telehealth for Functional Medicine?
Virtual functional medicine consultations give you access to Dr. Gurbacki’s root-cause approach, even if you can’t make it into her clinic in Omaha.
In practice, this means we set up a Zoom call instead of meeting in person. You’ll get the same thorough intake, the same detailed lab review, and the same personalized protocol. The only difference is the screen between us.
This option works well for Nebraska residents who live outside the Omaha area, have scheduling constraints that make in-person visits difficult, or simply prefer the convenience of virtual care.
It’s strictly functional medicine, no hands-on chiropractic adjustments, but we can still address the root causes of your fatigue, hormonal imbalances, gut issues, and more.
What Conditions Can Virtual Consultations Help?
We use telehealth consultations for:
- Chronic fatigue
- Hormonal imbalances (thyroid issues, menopause symptoms, irregular cycles)
- Digestive problems and gut health issues
- Unexplained weight gain or difficulty losing weight
- Sleep problems (trouble falling asleep or staying asleep)
- Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
- Autoimmune conditions
- Inflammation and chronic pain
- Food sensitivities

How It Works
First Appointment (60 minutes via Zoom)
We’ll talk through everything you have going on, so that we understand your health concerns, symptoms, medical history, and goals. Then we figure out which labs to order.
Lab options may include:
- Comprehensive blood panels (CBC, CMP, lipids, thyroid, vitamin D, inflammatory markers, autoimmune markers)
- Food sensitivity testing
- Vitamin & mineral levels
- Hormone panels
- Neurotransmitter testing
- Adrenal function
- Stool analysis (if gut issues are present)
Where do you get labs drawn?
We work with labs in Omaha and Lincoln. If you’re in western Nebraska (Grand Island, Kearney, North Platte), there are similar labs available in those areas too.
Lab Review Appointment (45-60 minutes)
Once your results come back, we’ll meet again via Zoom. We’ll share our screen and walk you through your labs, analyte by analyte, so you understand what’s happening in your body. Then we discuss your personalized protocol: supplements, dietary changes, and lifestyle modifications.
Everything is also accessible in your patient portal, so you can reference it anytime.
Follow-Up Appointments (15-30 minutes)
We’ll check in about a month after you start your protocol to see how you’re feeling—what’s working, what’s not, and if you’re having any detox reactions (some people do, some don’t).
From there, we meet as often as makes sense for you:
- Every other week if you want more support and accountability
- Once a month for most people
- Less frequently if you’re doing well and staying on track
These can be quick Zoom calls or even phone check-ins if we’re just touching base.
Common Questions
Can I do virtual consultations if I live outside Nebraska?
No. You must be a Nebraska resident to participate in telehealth consultations.
Do you offer virtual chiropractic appointments?
No. Virtual consultations are strictly functional medicine—lab review, supplement protocols, and lifestyle guidance. Chiropractic adjustments require hands-on care, so those need to be in-person.
Is virtual functional medicine covered by insurance?
I’m an out-of-network provider, so I don’t bill insurance directly. Upon request, I can provide a superbill which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
How much does it cost?
It varies depending on which labs we run and how often we meet. We want to be upfront: functional medicine is an investment. But many patients tell us they save money compared to conventional care when you factor in copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs for tests insurance won’t cover. We’ll discuss exact costs during your first appointment or free consultation so there are no surprises.
What if I’m not good at staying on track with protocols?
That’s okay, we’ll meet you where you’re at. Some people dive in headfirst, others prefer to start small. The key is that you’re actually taking the supplements and following the protocol we develop. We’ve seen patients let bottles sit unopened in their cabinet, and that doesn’t help anyone. If you’re unsure you’re ready, let’s talk about it honestly during your consultation.
Can I switch to in-person appointments later?
Absolutely. If you live in the Omaha area and want to transition to in-person care, we can do that anytime.
